My Japan Vacation - A Night In Yokohama

Yokohama - Japan

On our vacation to Japan in July 2010, we spent one night in Yokohama at Intercontinental Hotel - Yokohama Grand. The journey from Tokyo to Yokohama is not far, about 25 minutes by Japan Rail. Intercontinental Hotel is a walking distance away from Minato Mirai Station and Queen's Square, which is great as that means halal food is just within walking distance.

I love Intercontinental Hotel - Yokohama Grand as the room is quite spacious by Japan standard (on our first night in Japan, we stayed at Parklane Hotel Nishikasai as we wanted a hotel close to Disneyland Tokyo, the room was very small, just big enough for the bed and a small walking space to walk from the door to the bed, the toilet makes me feels like I am in a cubicle but it was still pleasant, nice and clean). Back to Yokohama Grand,  our hotel room had floor to ceiling window and the view was fantastic. The hotel's lobby was beautiful and large too, there was a wedding during our stay there and it was fun looking at the ladies dress up for the wedding.

After checking in at Intercontinental Hotel - Yokohama Grand, we walked about and took a sightseeing boat to soak in Yokohama sights. The weather was a bit cloudy but still we enjoyed the boat ride. We managed to see Yokohama Bay Bridge, Red Brick Warehouse and Big Wharf - Osanbashi Pier. If I had another day at Yokohama, I would love to tour those area on foot.

That evening, we explored Landmark Tower - Sky Garden, the view up there was really fantastic. You can see  Japan lights up and the view just seemed endless. In the Sky Garden itself, it was spacious and relaxing. My small kid had fun dancing with the lights at the souvenir shop. Afterwards, it's some shopping at Landmark Plaza before retiring for the evening. On our way back we passed by Cosmos World and stayed there for a while for my son to ride the kiddy rides and thomas train. Hubby wanted to try the huge ferris wheel, but the line was a long snake and I am a scaredy cat.

A night in Yokohama is definitely not enough, two nights will be much better as there is much to explore. Nevertheless, our trip to Yokohama was definitely memorable and loads of fun.

If you haven't book your Japan hotel, could you do me a favor and book the hotel from this website? It's Agoda and I'm an affliate. You would probably book from Agoda anyway, but clicking on this link will earn me some commission and I would really appreciate that :) Thanks!
