Grand Hyatt Dubai - Kids swimming pool |
Last February, hubby, our two boys and I headed to Dubai for a short vacation (we were there for another reason as well and decided to combine business with pleasure :)) It was quite a last minute booking and the hotel of our choice Westin Mina Seyahi was fully booked. With so many choices of hotels in Dubai, we were getting quite a headache and in the end decided upon Grand Hyatt Dubai (quite near Dubai Airport) based on the photos of the spacious hotel grounds and swimming pool. We didn't know that Grand Hyatt Dubai also has a kids club, that was a nice surprise.
We reached Grand Hyatt Dubai quite early in the morning as our plane touches down at about 5.30am Dubai time. We planned to store our luggage at Grand Hyatt Dubai and then go somewhere for breakfast and a spot of sight seeing before checking in. However, the staff at the front desk was lovely and said they will see if they can get a room ready for us at that moment. It was really a nice gesture.

On one of the days, we took the kids to the kids club right after breakfast and there were so many things to entertain them there that they didn't want to go out sightseeing :) One feature that they really like is the sand playground with plenty of sand castle building toys (the lady in charge will kindly bring in buckets of water if you request for it) and a big wooden plane structure with a tube slide at the back.

Dubai With Kids : Grand Hyatt Kids Club |

Inside the kids club there are also lots of interesting books, an array of toys (neatly arranged too), a video game area, and another area for free play (at that time some kids were watching some kids songs video and dancing to the beat). There were a number of kid there too (not crowded but at least there are other kids for your kids to play with) I was wondering why Grand Hyatt Dubai dedicated such a big area for a kids club as I don't see many tourist with kids there however upon conversing with some of the kids there, I realize that there is a residence area next to Grand Hyatt Dubai and they enjoy the same facilities as the hotel guest hence the big space and good facilities.

Grand Hyatt Dubai is quite close to the "old" dubai where the souks are while a trip to Dubai Mall / Emirates Mall by taxi will cost you about AED 25 and AED 40 respectively. Sadly, Grand Hyatt Hotel Dubai only provide shuttle transportation to Hospital City and Mirdif area and there is no shuttle to other attraction areas or nearest Metro station. When taking a cab, do remember that Dubai's evening peak hours are from 4.00pm-7.00pm so that you won't be stuck in the sprawling traffic.

For Dubai's local street food outlets, we were advised to go to nearby Karama area by a taxi driver after getting bored with the hotel's restaurant and mall restaurants which is quite similar to what we have in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
We didn't really get to explore much of "Old" Dubai due to some reasons, but the kids has been asking for the kids club and hopefully, we will be able to go Dubai again some time in the future : )
