| Kids Gym in Kuala Lumpur - Young Explorer |
1 Mont Kiara is a new shopping mall in Mont Kiara albeit small, it is a place that we would head to if we are looking to eat or buy groceries during weekends or rush hour to avoid traffic and parking problems. During one of our visits recently, we stumbled upon Young Explorer Kids Gym @ #03 - 8 to 10. Which is great as I am also interested in finding kids gym in Kuala Lumpur ever since I saw My Gym at Singapore and the only kids gym that I know of in Kuala Lumpur were FlyKidz also in Mont Kiara and Little Gym at Hartamas. Though I have yet to visit these kids gyms personally.
Well, Explorer Kids Gym looks interesting from outside (sorry no pictures as I was there just to enquire and it was nearly closing time) they have three different sections covering 8000 square feet. One section is dedicated to gymnastics and when we were there, there were 5 kids (mostly expats kids) doing cartwheels supervised by 1 trainer. another section (which is fairly big) is for the Montessori Playgroup. Wide space, lots of low shelves and small table and chairs spread out over the place, very well organized, neat and clean. The last section is their Adventure Maze catering to 4 years old and above. There's a tall slide, lots of climbing net and rope with gymnastic rings I think? Anyways, I wasn't really keen on the Adventure Maze as I think my 3 year old won't enjoy it yet. I was really keen on the kids gymnastics and Montessori Playgroup programmes unfortunately they don't have transportation services and he can't assure me 100% that lunch provided will be halal even though they don't serve pork.
What I really like about Young Explorer Kids Gym is that they have an open gym session on Saturdays 2.30-6.00pm and Sundays 10.00am-6.00pm with per entry fee of only RM8/RM12 (member/non-member). Though it requires constant adult supervision, which is good if you want to see whether your kids will enjoy the gym or not. They also have a free trial class as they just recently opened. (How long this offer will last is unknown to me).
If you live in Mont Kiara or near Mont Kiara, it's worth checking this place out.
Their gymnastics Programmes are as such:
Junior Beans : 12 - 20 months
Beans: 20 -36 months;
Bees: 2 1/2 - 4 years old
Frogs: 4 - 6 years old
Explorers: 6 years and above
Survivors: Intermediate - by selection only
Term Fees:
Junior Beans & Beans: RM 550 / RM750 (once a week / twice a week)
Bees, Frogs & Explorers: RM650 / RM850 (once a week / twice a week)
Survivors : RM750 / RM950 (once a week / twice a week)
Young Explorer's Montessori Playgroup programme structure also looks good on paper:
9.00am - 10.45am : Work Period consisting of:Practical Life (mastering motor skills) Sensorial (learning through five senses), Cultural (art, music, time, botany, zoology, sciences), Language and Mathematics
10.45am-11.30am : Circle Time (learning counting, concept of time, songs and finger play and cultures of the world)
11.30am - 12.00pm : Gymnastic Playtime
12.00 pm- 12.40pm: Lunchtime
12.40pm - 1.00pm: Story Time / Cultural Talk Session
1.00pm - 1.15pm : Dismissal for half day programmes.
1.00pm - 2.45pm : Work Period
2.45pm - 3.15pm : Circle Time
3.15pm : Dismissal for Full Day Programme
Their Montessori Playgroup fee structure for 2012 is as such:
Registration Fee: TM350 (non-refundable)
Deposit: RM1000 (refundable)
Half Day Programme (9.00am - 1.00pm) RM3750 per term
Full Day Programme (9.00am - 3.15pm) RM5250 per term
Part Time Programme (Mon-Wed 9.00am - 1.00pm) RM2750 per term.
2 sets of Playgroup T-shirts RM80.00
