Thai Green Curry Recipe @ Resepi Ayam Masak Hijau Ala Thai

resipi thai green curry

This has got to be hubby's favorite thai dish.. so I thought yesterday I would make it for him from scratch, shouldn't be very difficult since it tasted a bit like Ayam Masak Lemak anyway, just add a few more ingredients :p

I googled search for the recipe and most of them use thai green curry paste which is not what I am looking for, so I googled search again for thai green curry paste recipe and got the basic ingredients used. Here I am not going to list down the ingredients separately since I think it's a waste of time. Just blend everything together and you are good to go. Oh, btw, I substituted thai fish sauce with sesame seed oil since I am trying not to cook seafood ingredients and meat together in the same dish. Do note that the fiery factor is toned down since I am cooking for my 3.5 year old as well so feel free to add more chilies or even use birds eyes chilies if you want.

My recipe for Thai Green Curry is as such then:

(serves 2-4 person) :
3-4 pieces chicken parts
1 medium size onion
3 cloves garlic
2 thin slices of garlic
2 thin slices of galangal
7 fresh green chilies
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp sesame seed oil
(blend all of the above -not the chicken of course-)
1 stalk lemongrass - bruised
4-5 kaffir lime leaves
150gm coconut milk (more or less according to your preference)
3 small aubergines (or as much as you want to eat)
salt
a dash of ground black pepper
vegetable oil to saute

How to cook Thai Green Curry:

1. Heat up the wok with abut 2 tbsp of vegetable oil and saute the blended ingredients, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves until its aroma wafts the air.

2. Add in chicken (Add more water if chicken is not covered) then cook with medium fire until chicken is tender (I usually take about 30 minutes).

3. Lower the heat and add in the coconut milk, aubergine, black pepper and salt and wait till it simmers. Switch off heat and dish is ready to be served!

Resepi Ayam Masak Hijau Ala Thai

Thai green curry adalah hidangan thai kegemaran Encik Suami, jadi semalam ingatkan nak masakkan untuk suami tersayang hehe.. takkan lah susah sangat kan rasa pun ada sikit-sikit macam ayam masak lemak, cuma tambah ramuan sikit-sikit je..

I googled search untuk resepi Thai Green Curry tapi kebanyakan resepi menggunakan Thai Green Curry Paste yang I tak nak guna, kita nak authentic lah hehe so I googled search again for thai green curry paste recipe dan dapatlah ramuan asas untuk pes thai green curry ni. Di sini I tak nak tulis resepi pes green curry secara berasingan, buang masa je kan.. kisar je lah semua sekali jalan senang! Oh, lagi satu, I tak pakai fish sauce sebab tak nak campur masakan laut dengan masakan darat hehe so I tukar dengan minyak bijan je lah (memandai je). I buat lauk ni tak pedas sebab anak I pun nak makan kan.. so kalau nak pedas tu.. sila tambah cili hijau atau senang guna cili padi :)

My resipi untuk Thai Green Curry:

(untuk 2-4 orang) :

3-4 keping ayam
1 bawang besar saiz sederhana
3 ulas bawang putih
2 hirisan nipis halia
2 hirisan nipis lengkuas
7 batang cili hijau
2 sdt serbuk ketumbar
1 sdt serbuk jintan putih
1 sdm minyak bijan
(kisar bahan-bahan diatas kecuali ayam lah kan)
1 batang serai - dititik
4-5 daun limau purut
150gm santan (lebih atau kurang ikut selera ye)
3 batang terung (atau seberapa banyak awak nak makanlah)
garam
sedikit serbuk lada hitam
minyak untuk menumis

2. Masukkan ayam, tambah air jika perlu dan masak atas api sederhana hingga ayam empuk.

3. Perlahankan api, masukkan santan, terung dan serbuk lada hitam, didihkan dan tutup api. Siap!

Halal Dinner in KL : Enak KL @ Starhill Gallery Review

The ambience at Enak KL - Starhill Gallery

Last weekend while driving back to KL, we were looking for someplace to eat our dinner that is not crowded on a Sunday evening. I asked hubby if he wanted to try out Enak KL at Starhill Gallery since the restaurant has a 4 star rating at TripAdvisor and he said okay.

The restaurant is a bit difficult to find, you have to take the escalator down to the Feast level and then turn left where you will see the concierge and then take another left and you will see the entrance to Enak KL (pass the korean restaurant).

The ambience of Enak KL is quite romantic with dim lighting that made taking pictures very difficult and the service quite prompt. I also like the fact that they accommodate my request for fried noodles for my son even though its not on the menu. We ordered satay, oxtail soup, ayam percik (creamy grilled chicken) , vegetable tasting platter, plain rice and cendol.

malaysian food fried noodle

First up was the fried noodles, we asked for it to be non-spicy with no vegetables for my 5 year old who only eats noodles... it tasted ok.

what to eat in malaysia

Next came the satay, we ordered a half dozen serving of chicken and beef. The beef satay tasted quite nice but I don't like the taste of the chicken satay. Hubby commented that the peanut gravy is not as thick as it is supposed to be. My guess is it is to cater to the tourists' taste but overall still quite acceptable.

kuala lumpur halal food blog

The oxtail soup was listed as an appetizer so the waiter served us the soup next and then waited for like 20 minutes before asking if they can serve our mains. We were like *erm.. yeah?* Come on man, we are asians, when we order oxtail soup and chicken and vegetable and rice.. naturally we would want to eat the soup with our rice? The oxtail soup was fiery with black pepper on its own, but the taste tones down a bit when you eat it with rice. The potato and carrots in the soup was bland but the meat was very tender.

Ayam percik or grilled chicken with creamy sauce.. we were expecting the normal ayam percik you know with either the drumstick / breast part of the chicken, we were not expecting something like a chicken meatball. The gravy? Definitely did not represent how ayam percik taste like..

halal food kl

The vegetable tasting platter.. on the left is asparagus kerabu, center is aubergine with chili and the last I can't remember whether it is spinach or some other green leafy vegetable all I remember was how bland it was, the aubergine also failed to impress, only the asparagus kerabu tasted quite nice and novel (cos actually Malays don't eat kerabu asparagus)

malaysian street food

Lastly, hubby ordered cendol (I don't know what is it with him and cendol lately) and this was his comment: "This is one of the worst tasting cendol that I have ever tasted" I took a bite and hmm.. bland again.. can't really taste the evaporated milk and gula melaka.. the red beans and cendol also didn't add anything to the dessert.

Overall, it was very disappointing in term of food but service was quite ok. It's a pity since the ambience is quite nice and the location is not very crowded. Had the food been fantastic, we wouldn't mind going again. But, for now the  verdict is first and the last!

Currently in My Wardrobe - Peplum Blouses

muslimah fashion trends
me n  my peplum blouses :)

Oklah peplum blaus ni memang tengah tren masa raya puasa lepas kan.. agak2 sekarang masih tren lagi ke tak eh? blaus peplum ni pun ada macam2 jenis kalau tersalah pilih fabrik dan potongan erm.. tak cantiklah kalau ada problem area kan? Malulah I kalau nak pakai bergaya2 sekali bila duduk tu nampak lemak kat pinggang dan perut >_<  so.. blaus peplum yang sesuai pada pendapat I bagi orang yang macam I ni peplum yang loose cut, material bukan jenis stretchable (satin ok lagi tu :p ) daaaan.. yang paling penting melepasi bahagian punggung

muslimah fesyen lookbook
Peplum Blouse yang ni I beli @ kedai dalam Tesco Kg Pandan
setakat ni ada 3 blaus peplum dalam koleksi almari I hehe.. peplum pertama adalah dari kedai yang dalam Tesco Kg Pandan.. satin dengan half lace, suka sangat, cuma satin dia kurang berkualiti sikit jadi nipis, pastu bertanda bila kita berpeluh..manik2 pulak senang tersangkut dengan lace... sepatutnya kalau lace takdelah manik kan.. supaya lace tu tak rosak.. tapi sebab blaus cantik I beli jugak and sebab I malas, I tak bukalah manik2 tu..

ok so yang ni sebenarnya peplum ke babydoll eh?  *konfius*

Masker Rambut Avocado + Yoghurt

Seminggu sebelum hari raya puasa yang lepas tu, ingatkan nak ke salun rebond rambut since dah lama tak pergi and Encik Suami pun dah start bising.. sekali sungguh hampeh.. dah lah beratus kena bayar, rambut makin teruk dah jadi macam singa.. rambut jadi teramat kering, jangan kata rambut lurus bersinar.. rambut terus jadi macam zig zag zig zag, tercacak-cacak yang rambut pendek-pendek tu eeee... geram!!! 4 tahun rebonding tak pernah jadi macam ni, first time jadi macam ni, tension..

Google search macam-macam dry and damaged hair treatment.. rebonding gone wrong etc etc.. tak jumpa jugak jawapannya.. semua cakap potong rambut, let the hair grow back and do a lot of treatments. Sigh.. banyaklah I nak pergi treatment kat salun lagi.. dah serik, treatment 5 minit charge beratus2.. tak payah sudah..

masker rambut kering

So, first I try masker rambut yoghurt + olive oil.. senang je masker ni, I beli Dutch Lady yoghurt yang kecil + 1 sudu teh olive oil.. kacau rata dan lumurkan di rambut yang kering selama 10 minit.. lepas tu bilas dengan air sejuk... hasilnya? Oklah berkilat sikit rambut (Sebab minyak zaitun lah tu) tapi masih lagi rambut zig zag zig zag eeee.. geram... tapi I baca yang tips ni patut diamalkan 2x seminggu secara konsisten baru akan nampak hasil.

Hmm.. selang 4 hari.. I beli lah lagi yoghurt (lah kan kata kena buat 2x seminggu) tapi kali ni I nak try dengan avocado pulak so I try masker Avocado + Yoghurt recipe yang ni:

Masker Avocado + Yogurt Untuk Rambut Kering:

1/2 biji avocado
1 tab kecil yoghurt
1 sudu makan olive oil
1 sudu makan madu
1 biji putih telur

2. Masukkan olive oil dan madu, kacau lagi
3. Masukkan putih telur dan kacau.

Actually, bila I dah campurkan semua ramuan kecuali telur putih tu.. bau dan tekstur masker rambut ni sungguh best tapi lepas I masukkan telur putih dia jadi macam cair sikit ( so maybe kurang kan putih telur dan guna separuh je?) Tapi dah jadi kan, takkan nak buang so I pakai je lah...

I buat sapu @ badan lepas tu bilas :) best jugak kulit terasa lebih halus :)

Free Water Playground @ Tampines One Shopping Mall Singapore

Checking out the free water playground at Tampines One Singapore

Ok after one year and one month of not having the opportunity of checking out the water playground at Tampines One Shopping Mall Rooftop, we finally did so last Hari Raya Haji holiday period :)

singapore kids places
Outdoor dry and wet playground at Tampines
My 5 year old has actually been there a few times with his very young Uncle and my mom's youngest sis but I have yet to take him there personally with his younger brother until last week. It was about 4pm and there was a bit of the sun but some area of the playground are quite shaded. The rooftop at Tampines One shopping mall has both water playground and an outdoor playground (both free) suitable for toddlers and also bigger kids and very kids friendly changing room and toilets. Very convenient. If the weather is bad KidzGo indoor playground (fee applicable) is at level 4.

Sadly, this section was closed for maintenance.

The water playground is open Tuesdays- Sundays 10 am to 9.30pm and Mondays 4 pm to 9.30pm. It will also be closed if the weather is bad. Some teenagers also like to hang around there but there is a security guard on patrol to ensure that the facilities are used as intended and the teenagers will always be asked nicely to hang out at the open area instead of using the playground that is meant for kids. Which is totally great for me cos if not they will hog the playground for hanging out and the small kids will not be able to enjoy the playground properly.

The only thing that is lacking is a halal food court :) but then again if you are really hungry Fish and Co, The Coffee Bean and BBQ Chicken are halal food places available at Tampines One if not cross over to the other side to Tampines Mall for McDonald's.

Free Indoor Playground Singapore Airport T1 - Viewing Mall L3

Hands up to those always scratching their heads where to bring their kids to expend their boundless energy? Somewhere comfortable enough for us parents to wait for them without having to worry about the scorching heat or sudden downpour, somewhere where they can run about safely and still have a nearby kids-friendly toilet for emergencies and also restaurants within walking distance should they feel hungry. The Canopy @ Changi Airport Terminal 1 Viewing Mall has all that and its free! (Of course you have to pay for your parking).

The Canopy - Free indoor playground @ T1

We checked out The Canopy during our last visit to Singapore and the kids loved it there. We spent about 45 minutes playing, then the kids needed a toilet break, then they asked to ride the sky train (we took 2 rides so that they just sat on the train and we are back at T1 again :p) then we ate at KFC then walked back to the playground and they played for another 30 minutes. Sure, the playground is small but the viewing mall is very spacious and offers a lot of running space (provided you don't irk others - but mostly the crowd are parents / grandparents with small kids so they are very understanding) plus the papers provided besides the playground area are often used to make paper aeroplanes instead and that amused the kids as well.

where can you see aeroplanes in Singapore
The only viewing mall with clear view of aeroplanes in Singapore, ample running area and a convenient toilet.

They are a few benches for about 9 parents to sit while waiting for the kids, if not there are also seats at The Viewing Mall area.

So this is where the rubbing station went when Budget Terminal was closed down :)

Kids having fun at Changi Airport T1 Viewing Mall (Public Area)

The rules stated no eating and drinking and always to wear socks but since not many knows the rules before heading to The Canopy, almost none of the kids were wearing socks. Some protective nettings have holes in them and the bigger kids used it to squeeze through while one of the crawling area (the one where its like meshed tunnel under the mock tree house is strewn with hairs and dust presumably cos its difficult to vacuum under there? Luckily, my kids didn't play there.

Having fun at The Canopy - Free play at Changi Airport T1 L3

Overall, I had to drag my 3 year old back home and even then he was throwing a tantrum cos he hasn't finished playing but my always obedient 5 year old didn't kick up a fuss. So, I think the indoor playground at Changi Airport is entertaining enough for 3-4 years olds while the 5 years old gets bored after 30 minutes unless they start to play "Police and Thieves" with others and run all over the place like what some kids were doing while we were there. If you are lucky, they play quite nicely without running into your small kiddos but if you get the rowdy ones with no parents' supervision, they tend to run about without heeding others and might knock into your little ones.

Resepi Mudah Macaroni N Cheese

Hari ni mood masak nasi lauk gulai ikan dan sayur goreng, tapi disebabkan anak nombor satu tu cuma makan mee sahaja.. kita ambil jalan paling ringkas dan cepat, masakkan dia pasta Mac N Cheese. Hmm.. boleh ke I tukar nama spaghetti n cheese? Sebab anak I tak suka makan macaroni so I substitute kan macaroni tu dengan spaghetti je.. Resepi ni memang tersangat simple sebab anak I tak makan apa-apa melainkan mee (that means no vegetables, no meat etc etc)so setakat mee dan sos cheese saja lah.. Pulak tu takde susu segar dalam peti ais, jadi I pun sebat je guna susu cair (err.. ok so sebenarnya tak berapa sihat lah ye tu.. tapi mac n cheese pun memang high in calories)

resepi pasta keju
Resepi Mac N Cheese Super Simple

I guna shredded cheese ni sebab takut anak I tak berapa suka warna cheddar yang oren. Rasa topping ni very light.

Resepi Mac N Cheese

Bahan-bahan seperti berikut:

1 sudu makan mentega
4 sudu makan susu cair
2 sudu makan shredded cheddar cheese ( I guna yang dalam gambar)
2 sudu makan air

Cara nak masak Mac N Cheese ni tersangat simple:

Siap!

Resepi Gulai Ikan Nenas Simple Tapi Sedap :)

resepi ikan gulai masak nenas
My Simple Gulai Ikan Masak Nenas Recipe

Gulai ikan nenas ni memang lauk ikan feveret I.. sama ranking dengan ikan pari masak asam pedas hehe. rasa dia pun lebih kurang sama je.. cuma gulai ikan nenas ni dia cair sikit. kalau takde nenas letak rebung pun sedap. Makan dengan nasi putih panas-panas.. yummy.. memang menjilat jari.

Resepi gulai ikan nenas ni simple je:

4 ekor ikan ( I guna ikan kerisi - saiz kecil)
1 bawang besar
3 ulas bawang putih
2 hiris halia
1 hirisan kunyit hidup
8 batang lada merah
belacan
1.5 keping asam
1 batang serai (dititik)
nenas (ikut suka berapa banyak)
gula (dalam 1.5 sudu makan)
garam
minyak untuk menumis
air secukupnya

Cara-cara masak gulai ikan nenas:

Siap! Senangkan? :)

KL With Kids : Butterfly Park Review

kl butterfly park review

KL Butterfly Park is one park where its difficult to find much information on. The website looks cute but doesn't really reveal much while reviews on TripAdvisor gave an average 4 star (not sure why). So, when the kids said they wanted to go and see butterflies out of the blue a few months back I readily said ok. I wasn't really impressed the first time we went as the park is really really small and I feel that the description of being "a secret paradise", "a large public butterfly zoo" and "a popular tourist attraction" really misleading.

Inside the KL Butterfly Park

Inside the KL Butterfly Park (the above two pictures are about 30% of the Butterfly free-flying area at the Park)

The entrance to the park is also a bit obscure. Keep your eyes peeled for a small entrance with a brown gate. Car Park space is also limited. If you are around the area, exploring the lake gardens surrounding and have an hour to kill, want a respite from the heat or a butterfly enthusiast then yes maybe you would want to pay a visit to the Butterfly Park BUT if you have to take a taxi with the kids and think you can spend 2-3 hours here.. I would suggest you give this place a miss.

Entrance fee for adult (non-Malaysian) is RM20 and child (non-Malaysian) is RM10. On our first visit (yes we did go a second time), there were only the butterflies and another section for bugs and insects. Nevertheless, my 5 year old enjoyed it very much that he asked for a second visit last month. We obliged since we didn't really have any plans for the weekend. This time around the Butterfly Park has added some exhibits such as turtles, frogs and fishes which makes it slightly more interesting. I have to add that the butterflies are really beautiful but I can't really appreciate it fully since I know zilch about the different types of butterflies and they don't really have informative signs or brochure of pictures of butterflies to look out for.

The bugs and insects section is also quite small mainly beetles, scorpions, millipede, geckos and stick insects. But still interesting enough for my 5 year old. Pass the bugs exhibits are some exhibits of preserved butterflies and stick insects in frames which we walked pass by after 5 minutes.

I think that is a duck but you can't feed it at KL Butterfly Park

Overall, KL Butterfly Park is an average place to visit if you are residing in KL and have nothing planned for the weekend but in my opinion its not really a must-see KL Tourist attraction with kids. You are better off entertaining the kids at Kidzania, Petrosains, Aquaria or even Sunway Lagoon.
