Lala Seafood Kuala Lumpur

Eating out in KL : Lala Seafood at Kampung Baru

One of my favorite places to go and find delicious halal food in Kuala Lumpur is Kampung Baru and since we are now living at Sentul, eating at Kampung Baru has gotten a lot easier and more frequent. It's quite an adventure really trying out new places to eat in Kampung Baru; Kuala Lumpur. Sometimes, we are disappointed but sometimes we are pleasantly surprised.

Lala Seafood Compound
Yesterday, since my mom-in-law and sis-in-law came to visit us in Kuala Lumpur, we decided to try Lala Seafood in Kampung Baru since our seafood eating experience there has only been confined to Suraya Seafood Restaurant (which we loved by the way).

Lala Seafood Eating area

Lala Seafood is by the roadside at No154 Jalan Raja Abdullah, it is a malay house converted into a restaurant and they have some parking lots in their compound but places are quite limited and we ended up parking at the roadside.

Lala Seafood is opened only during selected timing; if I am not mistaken it is roughly 12.30pm-3.00pm and 6.00pm - 1.00am daily.

Ambience of the restaurant is quite average,  clean and airy enough though I would advise you to spray on some mosquito repellent before goingin first. They have a nicer set-up inside the house which has also been converted into a dining area but that section was closed when we arrived (6.30pm).

We ordered Grouper Tiga Rasa (sweet, sour and spicy - but it tasted more to spicy to me), butter prawns, oxtail soup, omelette and some local salad.

Halal Seafood in KL: Garupa Tiga Rasa

The fish is crispy fried to the bones just the way I like it yummy! The sauce was nice, sweet and spicy though it can be a tad too hot for those who can't handle the heat. Somewhat pricey though at RM45

Seafood Restaurant in KL : Butter Prawn

Second dish is butter prawn which is hubby's favorite dish in any seafood restaurant when dining out in Kuala Lumpur. The prawn is not really big and it is not crispy or fried in batter but it tasted great and buttery (duh?) but not overly, hubby liked it very much.

What to eat in Kuala Lumpur? How about an oxtail soup?

Oxtail soup is my favorite dish in any restaurant, be it malay, indonesian or thai restaurant, I like all versions very much though  Indonesian's oxtail soup takes the top spot in my heart or shall I say in my tummy :p This Thai version is clear, wholesome with -again- a hint of chilli. Meat is also very tender. Soup comes only with meat and no potatoes nor carrots.

Omellete

The omelette did not scream anything special, not fluffy but edible and no complaints.

Kampung Salad with sambal belacan

This was mostly for my mom-in-law, so I didn't taste the sambal belacan. Mom-in-law thought they served kacang botol but it came with kacang panjang..hmm.. the waitress is from Thailand so there seemed to be some miscommunication here.

Drink-wise, nothing special. Our fruit juices were kind of diluted. So, I am not posting any pictures of the drinks. For delicious drinks at rock bottom prices, we prefer Laman Aiman also at Kampung Baru but the food there is lacking, so I wouldn't recommend going there except to grab some drinks to quench your thirst.

We came out of Lala Seafood that night fully satisfied with our meal, food is delicious yet different from the usual seafood restaurant that we patronize. I think it's because the lady boss is a Thai lady and so are most, if not all the workers there. This is one eating place in KL that we don't mind coming back to.
